For over two thousand years, Eastern philosophy has described the patterns of all things through Yin-Yang and Five Elements. Understanding this language is the first step to reading your chart.
The interplay of Yin and Yang is the Dao. Everything that exists arises from the interaction of two opposing yet inseparable forces. Without Yin, Yang cannot manifest; only when both coexist is there wholeness.
Yin is receptive, still, inward — the moon, water, winter, night. Yang is active, radiant, outward — the sun, fire, summer, day. Every person, color, season, and material carries a unique blend of both.
Water, Fire, Wood, Metal, Earth — five elemental frequencies, each corresponding to colors, seasons, organs, emotions, and character traits, flowing through all things.
The five elements are everywhere — flowing through all of nature, and through your chart.
Composition and cycles of the five elements
The ten heavenly stems and twelve earthly branches form the symbolic language of Chinese destiny. Each symbol carries a Yin-Yang polarity and elemental affiliation, together forming the sixty-year cycle.
BaZi, literally "eight characters," derives from your birth year, month, day, and hour. Each time unit produces one stem and one branch, forming four pillars of two characters each — eight in total.
The Day Master — the stem of the day pillar — represents you. All destiny analysis revolves around this single character.
自知者不怨人,知命者不怨天。
《荀子》
We are each part of how the world moves.
Through the lens of destiny, we come to know ourselves — and our place within it all.
